International Association of Lawyers has new president

Jean-Jacques Uettwiller is the new president of the International Association of Lawyers (UIA), taking over from Miguel Loinaz. The founding partner of UGGC took over as president at the conference in Valencia, on 31 October.

He has indicated that his priority concerns will be to defend the rule of law and the legal profession.

Jean-Jacques Uettwiller announced the creation of the UIA Institute for the Rule of Law, to coordinate and multiply the actions of the UIA’s working groups and commissions campaigning on behalf of human rights.

The new president has been a member of the UIA since 1987 and has held various posts in the organisation, including president of the Foreign Investments Commission, finance director and congress director.
